Games coming thick and fast for Cardiff

Cardiff dropped out of the Championship play-off zone after blowing a two-goal home lead against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and drawing 2-2, so they will be keen to bounce back quickly against visitors Brentford.

There is little time for the Bluebirds to contemplate those two points dropped, with the Brentford game being followed by a trip to Birmingham next Friday.

City manager Russell Slade, meanwhile, has revealed that he has no plans to let any of his players leave the club during next month's transfer window.

"We don't want to lose our best players, and you don't want to upset the group as well," Slade told BBC Radio Wales.

Harlee Dean is available again after a three-match suspension for Brentford, so could slot back into defence for the Cardiff City Stadium clash.

Jack O'Connell has deputised for Dean since his red card in the 2-1 home win over Nottingham Forest on November 21, leaving head coach Dean Smith with a tough selection choice.

Despite nodding a goal in the 2-2 draw at Fulham at the weekend however, O'Connell is expected to drop back down to the bench.

Centre back James Tarkowski conceded an own goal in the Fulham draw, so his position could also come under threat from the end of Dean's suspension.
