Campbell shortlisted for February award

14 March 2013 10:59
Fraizer Campbell is one of three Championship players in the running to win Player of the Month.

The npower Championship Player of the Month candidates for February are:

Fraizer Campbell (Cardiff City) - striker

A January transfer window acquisition, the 25-year-old scored the winning goal at Leeds United with his first touch as a substitute. Remarkably he scored every one of Cardiff’s goals in February, with two apiece in the wins over Bristol City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, finishing coolly on each occasion.

Tomasz Kuszczak (Brighton & Hove Albion) – goalkeeper

The ex-Manchester United stopper has become the defensive rock upon which Brighton & Hove Albion founded their climb into the Play-Off positions. He has produced a series of brilliant saves throughout the month, most notably in the victories over promotion rivals Hull City and Cardiff City, and to preserve a third clean sheet against Burnley.

Jamie Ward (Derby County) - striker

The energetic forward returned from injury to inspire his side going forward, scoring five goals in six February games, the highlight of which was a scorching volley in the 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town. He clearly relished the responsibility of leading the attack and was a constant pest to defenders.

The winner will be announced on Friday March 15th.
