Cardiff's Juan Cala has requested a personal hearing with the Football Association after being hit with a misconduct charge, the Barclays Premier League club announced on their official Twitter account.

Cala has been charged in relation to an alleged incident in or around the tunnel area following Cardiff's 4-0 defeat against Sunderland last Sunday.

Spanish defender Cala had earlier been sent off by referee Phil Dowd for a professional foul on Sunderland striker Conor Wickham.

"Juan Cala has requested a personal hearing with the FA in relation to his FA misconduct charge, the date to be confirmed," Cardiff said.

Cardiff are currently bottom of the league, two points from safety, with just two games left - Newcastle away on Saturday, followed by a home game against Chelsea in 10 days' time.
