Leaders QPR were the only team in the top five to win at the weekend as they stretched their lead over the chasing pack.
Neil Warnock`s side are now eight points clear of second-placed Swansea, nine ahead of Cardiff in third, 10 clear of fourth-placed Norwich and 11 points in front of Nottingham Forest.
But asked if the Hoops' rivals were all battling for second spot, Burton replied: "There`s 11 games to go, 33 points left to play for, who knows in this league?
"QPR have kept their noses in front and credit to them but I wouldn`t like to say and, I`m not allowed to gamble, but I certainly wouldn`t like to put any money on what the outcome of this league is going to be."
