Bothroyd: Bluebirds must challenge

Having missed out on the play-offs on the final day last term, Dave Jones' troops have got off to a flier and are top of the table after two wins and a draw from their opening three games prior to Sunday's encounter with Bristol City.

And Bothroyd admits he is flourishing under the stewardship of Jones as the club target promotion.

The 27-year-old told the BBC Sport Wales show: "Cardiff has given the players the stage we need to perform. So we need to produce and get to where everyone wants to be and that's in the Premier League. We've no excuses.

"I'm really enjoying myself here and it shows in my football. I'm genuinely happy.

"Everything is going in the right direction at Cardiff. We have the new training facilities and the stadium is superb."
