Dave Jones and Nigel Pearson were speaking after Cardiff's 1 - 0 win at The Walkers Stadium. Dave Jones"I think it adds extra pressure being ahead going into the second game. People will be expecting us to finish the job now," he said."But we have only got a foot in the door, we need to make sure that we close it."Semi-finals and finals are life-changing events for football clubs - for the whole football club whether you are players or the girls that work in the canteen - because they get you where you want to be."In this case, they can get us into a division where everyone wants to play and which everyone watches."But we are just focused on Leicester. There have been no high-fives or back-slapping in our dressing room, we know we still have a lot of hard work to do."Today was about digging in and we are going to have to do that again on Wednesday night."Nigel Pearson"Cardiff were the favourites at the start of the tie and now they have earned a great away win...but all the pressure is on them."I've got a lot of respect for Dave and we were discussing some of the contentious decisions throughout the game." he continued."Both sides have worked extremely hard to get where they did in the table."But the players had to play without fear and it was a good game. It was a fantastic away performance from Cardiff."It was important that we didn't put the tie at risk by going any further behind after Cardiff scored."Dave will know that he is still in a battle and all four sides involved in these play-offs will believe that they have a realistic chance of getting to Wembley."Share |
