Bluebirds exit cup after defeat at Macclesfield

History will show the result not the line ups. It was a giant killing and an embarrassment.

I appreciate the league is more important but I'm unhappy at the blatant disregard to the competition that has brought us our only major silverware.

Judging from the reaction on Twitter and Facebook it seems as though I'm in a minority. Most are happy that we played a team that were on a hiding to nothing and the FA Cup was a distraction that isn't anymore.

Some appear positively pleased we lost.

The only City winners today were those who were wise enough to lump on Macclesfield at 5/1 and 11/2.

As play entered the final 6 minutes City were a goal up after Nat Jarvis bundled home from close range but that was one of the only highlights of an insipid City performance from a side that included Kevin McNaughton, Filip  Kiss, Steve McPhail and the dreadful Etien Velonika.

By then Kiss and McNaughton had been subbed and City, on a rare attack managed to lose possession and within 15 seconds conceded an equaliser. Macclesfield, boosted by the crowd and the taste of Championship blood, attacked again and won a penalty which Homer conveted.  D'oh.

The remaining minute of normal time and the five of added time passed without one effort from Cardiff on goal.

Well done Macclesfield. If my team can't win then I always like the underdogs to do well so I hope they go on and get as much from this cup run as they can.
