Bluebirds chief relishing Villa tie

The Bluebirds have stood on the fringes of realising their Premier League dream in recent years, no more so than last season when they were in the promotion mix-up all term before completely falling out of the top six on the final day. Dave Jones' side have again started this campaign strongly and the trip to Villa Park towards the end of September could give a good indication of the gap in quality between where Cardiff are and where they want to be. Ridsdale told CardiffPlayer: "If we aspire to be in the Premier League it's always nice to get a Premier League club to see just how far we've progressed. "Clearly it would have been better at Cardiff City Stadium but I think loads of our fans will welcome going to Villa Park, I think it's many years since they've been there and they'll look forward to that. "The first thing we need to do is find out how many tickets we can get and then secondly I'd encourage as many Cardiff City fans to go there as possible because it is one of those wonderful days out. Villa Park is a magnificent stadium and hopefully we'll give them a good game."
