Jones has seen the club sell a host of star names over the years as they look to balance the books and he would love to give his current squad the best possible chance of promotion as they look to banish the memory of last season's final-day heartache. "In January, if we were challenging and there wasn't money, I'd feel frustrated," he told the Daily Mail. "But then I'm always frustrated. I want it (promotion) yesterday, just as much as the fans." He added: "What people don't realise is that there are six teams in our division who have not been in the Premier League. Six. We're one of them. Big club? We're trying to get to be a big club. "But we can't even get a loan player now because we're at our wage limit. "Peter (Ridsdale) may be on his own crusade to right what people think he did wrong at Leeds - and what he has done here is phenomenal - but I said to him the other night "You gave your last managers at Leeds millions upon millions and you won't give me two bob".
