Bluebirds boss has stadium hopes

After 99 years at Ninian Park, the Bluebirds will open the forthcoming season with a clash against Scunthorpe at the Cardiff City Stadium on August 8. Jones is all too aware of the problems some teams face when they move into unfamiliar surroundings, and he is looking to make the new ground a home from home as quickly as he can by getting his players used to the arena at every opportunity. City also have pre-season friendlies lined up against Chasetown, Celtic and Valencia, and Jones told the South Wales Echo: "We are training here as many times as we can. It's totally different to what we have been used to at Ninian Park and I want every player used to it. "The pitch area is exactly the same as Ninian, but the surroundings are so much different. Our aim is to make it feel like home as quickly as possible and we are spending time there. "When you look around at new stadiums, the tendency has been for results to dip when teams move in and we want to buck the trend. It's a fantastic venue and we have to make the most of it."
