As one sanction is lifted another holds us back
Cardiff City are step by step solving the issues that keep the club under a transfer embargo. The solution to the main high court writ several weeks ago saw City clear of the tax mans clutches and able to sign Tom Heaton on a permanent contract but soon after more hurdles were put in place that put the club under embargo again.Another petition was put into the court for the latest tax payments and 2009 accounts were not filed. The last couple of weeks have seen money paid to the tax man and the accounts submitted. Phew free to trade? No. Charlton Athletic have reported City for not paying the final installment of the Mark Hadson transfer fee.Hudson cost City a shade over £1m and the final £500,000 is overdue. The club have already negotiated a payment plan with Sunderland to complete the Michael Chopra transfer and now have to sort a deal out for the Hudson money to get the embargo lifted.These processes are all part of the aim for Chairman TG and CEO Gethin Jenkins to get the club on a stable financial footing after the previous regimes seemed to get through by robbing Peter to pay Paul.Once the embargo is lifted City will be able to register Danny Drinkwater to play in competetive matches and bring in more players. The sooner the better with the new season just three weeks away.
