The club was founded in 1926 but unfortunately most of the early records of the football club were lost in the devasting East Coast Floods of 1953. However Canvey Island has enjoyed a rise up in the non-league divisions since Jef King, a former Canvey player, became manager in 1992.
The club was in the Essex Senior League but it took King just a year to win the league title and reach the FA Cup Vase semi-final. Since then Canvey Island has risen through the Isthmian Leagues and recently topped the Rhyman Premier League by a margin of 19 points, finishing on a impressive 104 points to win promotion to the Conference League where they are consolidating in the league with ambitous plans in place for a new stadium.
