Eto'o interviewed over Cameroon no show

Cameroon captain Samuel Eto'o was interviewed here Monday over his team's decision not to turn up for a friendly international against Algeria in Algiers last month.

The North Africans are seeking $1 million compensation from Cameroon after the Indomitable Lions failed to turn up for the game on November 15.

The Cameroon players refused to travel after demands for a bonus payment worth the equivalent of 762 euros ($1,026) each failed to be met.

After his hearing before members of the Cameroon football federation's disciplinary committee Eto'o said: "The most important thing was for me to explain myself in person on behalf of myself and my teammates to put forward our version of events.

"We brought along proof, we'll wait now to see what the verdict is.

"We don't play for the national team for money, we play because we love our country."
