Cameroon pull out of Algeria clash at last minute

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced on their website that Tuesday's planned friendly against Cameroon has been called off.

"The postponement is due to an internal administrative problem in the Cameroon team," the FAF explained in a statement which went on to describe their opponents' withdrawal as "unacceptable, peculiar and unsporting."

A source close to the FAF indicated on Tuesday that they will now complain to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), who could hit the Cameroon FA (Fecafoot) with a fine.

However, the same source admitted to the APS press agency that African football's ruling body will not be able to inflict any more serious punishment.

"The CAF cannot hand down a sporting penalty to the Cameroon team, as they have no jurisdiction over friendly matches," the source pointed out.

The FAF are also expected to ask their Cameroonian counterparts to reimburse the cost of putting up the Indomitable Lions in the Algerian capital.
