Cambridge United defender Warren Goodhind has revealed that he is delighted to have signed a one-year extension to his current contract at the Abbey Stadium.
The 25-year-old former Barnet star believes he is part of an improving squad that can challenge for honours next season.
"It gives me another year to hopefully improve on what I personally feel is a good foundation this year," the South African told the club's official website.
"The team has continued in leaps and bounds and this allows me to hopefully play in a good side that will develop again next year and be pushing for honours, as we were this year until Christmas.
"Obviously some people would say two years would be more beneficial, but it has to work both ways and a year's ideal for me and the club.
"It's a young team but you can't really say anymore that's it's not an experienced team because everyone in the squad has played a lot of games, so hopefully we've learned from our mistakes this year and we can put those right next year."
