Joe Pigott set to miss out for Cambridge

Cambridge are expected to be without Joe Pigott as they entertain Crewe in Sky Bet League Two.

Striker Pigott, whose last league start came in September, has been struggling with illness and manager Shaun Derry thinks he will be unavailable this weekend.

Right-back Sean Long is back in contention after overcoming an injury which saw him limp off in the Checkatrade Trophy game against Bradford.

Elliot Omozusi is back in training and Derry has hinted that the defender is likely to go out on loan in January to help him recover from the broken foot he suffered in pre-season.

Zoumana Bakayogo could return to boost Crewe's defensive options.

The left-back has been out since November 12 with a hamstring injury and in his absence the Alex have kept only one clean sheet.

Bakayogo has been training this week and manager Steve Davis, who has no new problems, is hopeful the Frenchman will be available.

Fellow defender George Ray (groin) is also nearing a return to fitness while Billy Bingham has been back in the squad recently after a calf complaint.
