Robins rock U's

Cheltenham recorded a second successive victory, winning 2-1 at Cambridge to end their opponents' three match unbeaten run.

The Robins made an early breakthrough with Matt Richards firing an unstoppable left-foot volley past Chris Dunn after Liam Hughes' clearance fell to him in the 10th minute.

The U's went on to dominate the remainder of the first half and equalised in the 25th minute when Kwesi Appiah latched onto Ryan Donaldson's dinked pass before composing himself and slotting the ball beyond Trevor Carson for his third goal in two home games.

After both managers were sent to the stands at half time it was the visitors who retook the lead after 55 minutes when Terry Gornell diverted John Marquis' drilled left-wing pass beyond Dunn, via a touch from defender Josh Coulson.

Tom Elliott was denied by a fine save from Carson soon afterwards, while Jack Deaman made a fine challenge to stop Appiah before the forward rattled the crossbar from long range. Cambridge substitute Luke Chadwick fired just over with the last kick of the game.
