Reports suggest veteran former Bury and Burnley manager Stan Ternent could be in line to make a dramatic return to Gigg Lane.
It is believed the Shakers have offered Ternent a short-term deal to assist current boss Chris Casper as the club struggle to avoid relegation to the Conference.
Bury are in dire trouble towards the foot of the League Two table with eight games of the campaign remaining, having failed to win in 16 attempts.
Ternent guided the club to two promotions when he was in charge at Gigg Lane in the second half of the 1990s.
