Shakers set to lose Bishop
12 Jan 2009 - 11:35:27
Bury manager Alan Knill has confirmed that star striker Andy Bishop has rejected a new contract offer.
Knill told the club's official website: "I spoke to Andy on Friday and he has decided that the answer is no, he won't be signing the contract, which is his right to.
"Now we wait and see, but I have a meeting with the directors on Monday to see what direction we take."
Knill refused to criticise the player, complimenting the player's work-rate and performance in Saturday's 1-0 win over Barnet.
Knill could now be resigned to losing his prize asset during the transfer window.
"The window dictates what happens now. He wants to play higher and that's fair enough. He wants to wait longer, but we are running out of time in case he does go," Knill added.
Meanwhile, Bury completed a deal on Friday to bring goalkeeper Mark Tyler to Gigg Lane on a month's loan.
The Peterborough United shot-stopper made his debut on Saturday for the Shakers.
