Shakers lose cup appeal

Bury's expulsion from the FA Cup has been confirmed after an appeal by the Shakers was rejected by the Football Association.
The League Two club were thrown out of the competition for fielding on-loan Hartlepool United midfielder Stephen Turnbull in their second round replay win over Chester City.
Shakers boss Chris Casper had been given verbal permission to play Turnbull, but the necessary paperwork had not been completed - meaning Turnbull was ineligible to feature in the 3-1 win.
The decision by the FA leaves Chester to play host to Championship outfit Ipswich Town in round three in early January.
