    Shakers firm over Mattis

    10 Jan 2007 - 07:57:42

Bury boss Chris Casper insists he will only allow Dwayne Mattis to leave Gigg Lane if he receives a bid that matches his valuation of the midfielder.

Casper has already rejected approaches from Barnsley and MK Dons for the 25-year-old, who has snubbed the chance to extend his Shakers' deal and is out of contract in the summer.

"The first bid that came in (from Barnsley) wasn't worth the paper it was written on," Casper told the club's official website.

"It was a totally disrespectful offer and I suggest they go away and seriously think about it.

"At the end of the day, it won't be my decision. I do have a bit of an input, but I wouldn't like to tell you what my input to that offer was.

"It doesn't surprise me it's all about Dwayne at the moment. He's probably the most influential player in the division and I can understand why people are interested in him.

"Dwayne hasn't played his last game for Bury, even though he has turned down our contract offer."
