Shakers chief claims award

Bury's Alan Knill has been named the League Two manager of the month for September.

Knill pipped Andy Scott of Brentford, Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander and Peter Taylor of Wycombe Wanderers to the monthly award after the Shakers moved to the top of the table on the back of an unbeaten September.

"When I first came I brought in Efe Sodje who is an experienced winner," explained Knill.

"And I brought in players like keeper Wayne Brown who had won promotion with Hereford United.

"Then there's Andy Morrell who was playing in the Championship last season with Blackpool and now wants to show he can still play at that level.

"We have made everything more competitive. Every training session counts and the players now know what I expect from them."
