Marshall frustrates Shakers

Substitute Mark Marshall was Barnet's hero as the summer signing's late free-kick earned a point in a 1-1 draw against Bury at Underhill. The first effort on goal did not come until the 13th minute when Ryan Lowe's skimming long-range effort was comfortably saved by Barnet keeper Jake Cole. Cole had to be alert again to hold on to Andy Howarth's rising drive before Glen Southam went closest for the Bees 10 minutes before half-time with a 20-yard shot just over. The hosts started the second half brightly, but it was the Shakers who took the lead against the run of play on 56 minutes when Lowe burst through to hammer the ball across Cole and in off the post. Barnet then had two chances to level in quick succession, first when Southam's shot was parried by Cameron Belford and again when Mark Byrne's diving header from close range flew over the bar. And the pressure told with 15 minutes to go when former Swindon winger Marshall curled home expertly from 25 yards for his first Barnet goal and a share of the spoils.
