Bury boss Chris Casper blasted Anthony Taylor after the referee sent off midfielder Paul Scott in the Boxing Day defeat to Chesterfield.
Scott was dismissed for a second caution on the hour mark as the Shakers slumped to a 1-0 defeat - their fifth successive League Two loss.
A furious Casper blasted after his side's latest setback: "The sending-off was scandalous. The lad's won the ball.
"The lads are putting their bodies on the line. If it was for violent conduct, if it was for an off-the-ball incident, or spitting, then I'd be very disappointed in my player.
"But even down to ten men I thought that we showed an enormous amount of courage."
