Knill wants more players
15 Jul 2010 - 12:24:14
Bury manager Alan Knill is looking forward to the new League Two campaign despite losing key midfield men Stephen Dawson and Brian Barry-Murphy.
The Shakers will be striving to be in the promotion race this season and, with Stephen Schumacher making his way to Gigg Lane, Knill wants to see a few more faces make their way in before their opener against Port Vale on August 7.
Speaking to skysports.com, Knill said: "It is good to get the boys back in for pre-season. Unfortunately we have lost a few players this summer, but these things happen and you have to move on.
"We've signed a couple and we are hopefully going to bring two or three more in before the end of next week.
"We lost two influential midfielders in Stephen Dawson (to Leyton Orient) and Brian Barry-Murphy (to Rochdale), which is always a blow, but the good thing is that they have moved on to sides that are in the league above.
"If they are going on to play at a higher level then you can't really compete with that.
"We knew that Dawson was leaving pretty early on and when Brian came in and said that he had received an offer from League One then we couldn't stand in his way."
