Knill hails patient Shakers
08 Oct 2008 - 14:46:54
Bury boss Alan Knill was delighted to see his side step up their game to beat League One side Stockport County in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Andy Bishop's 76th-minute goal proved to be enough for the League Two high-flyers to beat Jim Gannon's side at Gigg Lane.
Knill said after the hard-fought 1-0 victory: "It was a real test for us and I thought we did very well.
"You have to be patient in games like this. You have to keep your shape and when you get the ball you have to use it well and our goal illustrated that.
"It doesn't matter who you play, you want to win - and it was no different tonight. It was always going to be a tough game and a tough draw but I thought we equipped ourselves really well.
"It was a good test to see where we are because I'm a big admirer of Jim Gannon's team."
