Bury boss Alan Knill was full of praise for his players after they boosted their survival hopes with a superb 4-1 victory at Brentford.

Goals from Nicky Adams, Glynn Hurst and an Andy Bishop double got the job done for Knill's side at Griffin Park and moved the Shakers six points clear of the bottom two.

Knill told the club's official website: "I can't explain why it happened, I'm just happy that it did. I have got to give full credit to the players, they have been magnificent for whatever I have asked them to do.

"I'm really pleased for Bish. There is a lot of speculation around him, but he is a real good lad to have in the dressing room and works very hard for the team.

"Sometimes the performances haven't given us the points we probably deserved, but the important thing is that we are performing pretty well.

"This was probably the biggest result since I have been here."
