Knill upbeat despite defeat

Bury boss Alan Knill saw some encouraging signs as his side began their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Burnley at Gigg Lane. The Championship club scored two goals in 12 minutes through Ross Wallace and Steve Thompson to go into half-time with a 2-0 lead. Burnley manager Brian Laws made wholesale changes for the second half to give his squad a run-out and Chris Eagles completed the scoring eight minutes from time with a clever dink over goalkeeper Cameron Belford. "It was a useful run out," said Knill. "We were up against quality opposition who were in the Premier League last year. "I think they`ll go straight back up this year but we moved the ball around well and there are things to work on as well."
