Knill rues defensive lapse

Bury boss Alan Knill felt a lack of concentration for Port Vale's winner undermined his Bury side's efforts in a tight contest. Lee Collins nipped in to score the only goal of the game for the Valiants after 66 minutes. "We're disappointed to lose but I thought it was a pretty even game," Knill said. "The first thing we put on the board was set-plays. That's what they're dangerous at and that's how it's proved. "We had quite a lot of chances in the first half and didn't take them and then they had more of the play in the second half, which you expect because they're a good side. "I think they're one of the favourites this year so for the first game I thought we gave a pretty good account of ourselves."
