Knill praise for Shakers

Bury manager Alan Knill praised his side despite their 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the Carling Cup. The Shakers created a host of chances but their failure to capitalise on them proved costly when Owls substitute Giles Coke drilled home a low shot in the 60th minute. Knill said: "I was obviously disappointed with the result but delighted with the way we played. "I thought that performances was as good as we've been. We should be talking about Bury in the next round because we had enough chances to comfortably win the game. "It would have been easy for us to come here, go 4-5-1 and then launch it, but we didn't. We came with the shape we work on, day in, day out. It moves the ball from the back to the front fairly comfortable. "We're a decent football side with young players who are learning their trade. We told the players to go out and express themselves and I thought they did that brilliantly."
