Knill: Lowe deserves the record

Bury manager Alan Knill paid tribute to record-breaker Ryan Lowe after the striker entered into the club's history books in the 3-0 win at Shrewsbury. Lowe became the first Shakers player to score in eight successive Football League games as he claimed his 23rd goal of the season. Andy Bishop put the Shakers ahead midway through the first half and after Lowe's second, Steven Schumacher added a late third. Knill said: "Ryan said it was a great header so I'm happy to give it to him. He deserves the record as he's a top player, a real good team player and if you put him in front of goal he can score." On his side's fine display, Knill added: "It was emphatic and I'm disappointed we haven't scored more. "We might have rode our luck a little bit, but we had some unbelievable opportunities to maybe make it five or six."
