Knill enjoying promotion charge
Bury are currently sat in fourth place in the table, level on points with Rochdale who occupy the third automatic promotion place, with nine games to go.
"It is exciting. It is so much better to have something to play for," Knill told BBC Radio Manchester.
"There are nine games left now and there is plenty to play for. I would much prefer it that way."
The Shakers drew 1-1 with Lincoln on Saturday, but host lowly Chester on Saturday knowing they are one of the form teams in an unpredictable league.
"I think we have now lost two in 13 games so we are in decent form and there are plenty of teams in the league that would want that," he added.
