Iron confirm Knill appointment

Scunthorpe have confirmed the appointment of Alan Knill as manager following his departure from League Two outfit Bury. Shakers assistant boss Chris Brass and goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler will join Knill at the Championship strugglers and all three man have signed rolling contracts. Knill, who spent four years of his playing career with the Iron between 1993 and 1997, quickly emerged as the leading contender to succeed Ian Baraclough at Glanford Park. He was appointed at Bury, who currently lie fourth in League Two, in February 2008 and has won many admirers for his work at Gigg Lane.
