Shrewsbury Town striker Glynn Hurst has extended his loan spell at Bury with a view to making the move permanent in January.
The 30-year-old netted six times in five matches during his initial one-month loan at Gigg Lane, prompting the Shakers' board to dig deep and find the funds to hang on to him for the long-term.
Bury boss Chris Casper told the club's official website: "It's been a bit of a fraught week, but we've finally got him. At one stage it looked like it wasn't going to go ahead, but thankfully we got some good news.
"The directors need a lot of thanks for this, they've backed me and I'm glad that they have come through for me and at the end of the day, I've got my man.
"His record speaks for itself. You only have to look how the fans have taken to him, and the way the lads have taken to him in the dressing room. I'm really pleased to have him back with us."
