Pools cruise past Shakers

Hartlepool made it eight games without defeat this season after a comfortable 3-0 win over Bury at Victoria Park.

The struggling visitors have now lost seven successive games in league and cup.

Pools created the first chance after 34 seconds, Gary Liddle denied by some last-ditch defending and they proceeded to take control of the game.

Adam Boyd headed onto the roof of the net in the 17th minute before the hosts took the lead with 36 minutes gone courtesy of Nolberto Solano's first goal for the club.

The former Newcastle winger skirted through challenges on the edge of the box and produced a low finish - the highlight of an accomplished performance.

Pools' second came six minutes after half-time, Colin Nish prodding home from 10 yards at the second attempt.

The Scottish striker headed against the underside of the bar from a Solano cross, but was soon celebrating his second.

Nish robbed defender Andrai Jones, and confidently rolled in from close range.

Bury's best chance came when defender Joe Skarz headed over from six yards.
