Future is bright for Buchanan

Defender David Buchanan believes the current Bury team is the best he has played in during his time at Gigg Lane.

The Shakers have slipped down to seventh place in recent weeks after briefly topping the League Two table, but Buchanan is relishing being part of the squad pieced together by manager Alan Knill during the summer.

"This is the best set of players I have played with since I've been at the club," he told the Bury Times.

"The gaffer brought in some good players and has retained some good ones.

"We have only got a small squad, but we know the quality is there to make sure we don't go on a winless run for too long.

"This club has been in relegation trouble for four years and this year we have surprised the fans.

"We're not surprising ourselves because we have got some good players."
