Defender Ryan Cresswell was singled out for praise by Bury boss Alan Knill after the Morecambe stalemate. The 0-0 midweek draw at Gigg Lane moved the third-placed Shakers to within four points of League Two leaders Rochdale.

Knill told BBC Radio Manchester: "I thought Ryan Cresswell was pretty good against Morecambe, pretty good.

"He's been really unlucky since he's been here. He's waited his time, then got in and either got injured or something - I think he was sent off."

He added: "Then the other two, Efe Sodje and Ben Futcher, have come in and done really well.

"So, again, he has to be patient but he's a young player learning his trade and I think he's got a real big future and hopefully he'll stay in (the team) this time."
