Leon Clarke back in Bury squad to face Wigan

Leon Clarke returns to the Bury squad for their clash with his old club Wigan.

The striker sat out the Shakers' Johnstone's Paint Trophy game against Morecambe on Tuesday due to a one-game suspension accrued by collecting five bookings, but he will now return to face a team he was on loan with at the back end of last season.

Bury manager David Flitcroft may again go without a back-up goalkeeper for Rob Lainton as Jack Ruddy is away with Scotland Under-19s while teenage defender Matty Foulds was left out of the squad in midweek amid interest from clubs higher up the pyramid.

Flitcroft only had four substitutes against the Shrimps and while captain Peter Clarke will come back into the squad after being rested, Kelvin Etuhu, Andrew Tutte, Daniel Nardiello, Ryan Lowe and Keil O'Brien are all carrying injuries.

Wigan captain Craig Morgan and striker Jordan Flores will both return from suspensions.

Centre-back Morgan, who has only just returned from a shoulder injury, missed their Trophy tie at Crewe in midweek after being dismissed against Walsall while Flores has had to sit out the past three games following his red card at Oldham.

Grant Holt (knee) came off the bench at Gresty Road to make his first appearance in 10 months and could now play his first league game for Latics since Boxing Day 2013 while midfielder Don Cowie (calf) also made his return as a substitute against the Alex.

Chris McCann (groin) came off for Cowie and will be assessed, Will Grigg is away on international duty with Northern Ireland while defenders Jason Pearce and Kevin McNaughton (both knee) remain sidelined.
