Bury without suspended Anthony Kay for Southend visit

Anthony Kay is banned for Bury when they host Southend.

The veteran defender picked up his fifth booking of the season in the Shakers' 3-2 defeat at Northampton last month.

Kean Bryan is out with a ruptured thigh and is likely to be sidelined for several weeks and Leon Barnett (knee), Ishmael Miller (hamstring) and Chris Brown (knee) continue to struggle.

Nathan Cameron (knee), Kelvin Etuhu (fibula), Tom Pope (punctured lung/ribs) and Craig Jones (thigh) are long-term absentees.

Southend will be without on-loan Crystal Palace defender Ryan Inniss, who is set for around three months out after needing surgery on the dislocated shoulder he suffered during the FA Cup defeat at Millwall.

Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth will serve a one-match suspension, while defender Jason Demetriou is away on international duty with Cyprus.

Goalkeeper Mark Oxley (back) will be assessed and defender Anton Ferdinand could return from the calf problem which has seen him miss the Shrimpers' last two matches.

Forward Nile Ranger (groin) remains a doubt, along with Simon Cox (hamstring), while David Mooney is sidelined by a foot injury. Midfielder Michael Timlin made a welcome return for the first time this season after a hamstring problem in the midweek Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Stevenage, so should be in the squad again.
