Lateef brings Shakers relief

On-loan West Brom teenager Lateef Elford-Alliyu came off the substitutes' bench to rescue Bury a point against Leyton Orient.

The 19-year-old striker struck four minutes into his Shakers debut to cancel out Matt Spring's stunning first-half goal.

Orient had dominated much of the game and had the first decent opportunity when Jonathan Tehoue beat Efe Sodje for pace before flashing a shot wide.

It did not take long for them to punish Bury's sluggishness, Spring crafting space on the edge of the area to curl a delightful effort past goalkeeper Trevor Carson.

It should have been 2-0 just before the break, but Carson bailed Sodje out with a good save from Tehoue following an horrendous pass back.

Bury's first effort on target came on the hour when an unmarked Andy Bishop headed straight at Orient goalkeeper Marek Stech.

But a couple of tactical switches paid dividends for boss Richie Barker as David Worrall got to the by-line and crossed for fellow substitute Elford-Alliyu to score.
