Danny Mayor gets Bury moving and Shaking

Bury beat managerless Chesterfield 1-0 to get back to winning ways in Sky Bet League One.

The hosts hit the woodwork three times in the first half before winger Danny Mayor broke the deadlock in the 68th minute.

And the Shakers held on at a sodden Gigg Lane to move back up to seventh, condemning the Spireites to their fifth straight league defeat.

Bury adapted to the soggy conditions quicker as Danny Rose stabbed an early shot straight at Chesterfield keeper Tommy Lee.

Mayor then fired against Lee's left-hand post, with Tom Soares hitting the rebound against the other post.

It was then Joe Dodoo's turn to volley against a post after being picked out by Mayor's chip into the box.

Chesterfield eventually got a foothold in the game, with Sam Morsy's long-range strike turned to safety by Daniel Bachmann.

Half-time substitute Jay O'Shea and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe then tested the Bury keeper after the break, with the former also volleying narrowly over.

But moments later Chesterfield gave the ball away in their own half and Mayor pounced to fire into the bottom corner.

Bachmann then denied Ian Evatt at the death to clinch Bury's first win in three league games.
