Derby clash ends in stalemate

Bury rounded off their home campaign with a 0-0 draw against Oldham in a lively Greater Manchester derby.

Neither team had anything left to play for, having secured survival the previous week, but it was not a typical dead rubber. Chances aplenty should have resulted in goals, but both teams lacked in the final third.

Shaun Harrad missed an absolute sitter inside two minutes, miskicking when David Worrall's cross had left the net wide open.

Giles Coke was denied by Oldham goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis before Bury survived a couple of penalty shouts, both involving Efe Sodje.

Oldham suffered a setback when Youssouf M'Changama was strechered off the pitch, but responded in positive fashion, threatening from a series of corners.

Still, Oldham failed to trouble Bury goalkeeper Jonathan Bond and were almost undone when Steve Schumacher rifled a venomous free kick just wide, while Lenell John-Lewis also rifled a late effort past the post.
