Bury and Bradford face FA Cup replay

Bury and Bradford had to settle for a 0-0 draw in their FA Cup third-round tie at Gigg Lane.

A hard-fought Roses clash saw Andrew Tutte and Leon Clarke go closest for Bury in the first half.

Gary Liddle and James Hanson then threatened for Bradford after the break but the League One rivals are now set for a replay.

Bradford fans filled each end but the hosts were first to go close as Clarke fired over.

The Bantams replied with Tony McMahon's free-kick hitting a post and Billy Clarke putting the rebound over, before McMahon failed to keep his volley down.

Kyel Reid and McMahon tested Bury's debutant keeper Ian Lawlor with shots from just outside the box but the Shakers spurned two great chances just before the break.

Tutte hit a tame effort too close to Ben Williams after being played in by Danny Mayor before Clarke headed wide from a Chris Hussey cross.

The second half saw few opportunities until Liddle headed wide from a Reid cross, before Rory McArdle flashed a header wide from McMahon's corner.

And the 3,489 travelling fans thought Bradford had won it in stoppage time as Stephen Darby drove a low ball into the box but Hanson somehow turned it over from inside the six-yard box.
