Rochdale midfielder Brian Barry-Murphy has tipped former club Bury to be promoted this season. The two clubs met in a friendly at Gigg Lane on Tuesday night which the hosts won 3-0. Barry-Murphy came close to promotion with Bury on a couple of occasions before making the switch to Spotland this summer and he hopes they can go all the way this time. "It was disappointing last season at Bury as you can never say you were there but I thought we had done enough and we were always going to go up - but we just fell short again and it was a huge blow," the Irishman told the Manchester Evening News. "But I think they look strong for this season and I think they will go close again and go up." On his switch to Rochdale, he added: "I have settled in really easily and the lads have made me feel very welcome. It is a fantastic club and I have been impressed with the lads since I have been here. It is a good standard so I am really enjoying it."
