Bury striker Andy Bishop is on the verge of signing a new contract with the club after being linked with Crewe Alexandra and Blackpool just before last Friday's transfer deadline.
The 24-year-old former Walsall and York City forward has scored 23 goals in 54 appearances for the Shakers and director of football Keith Alexander is keen to keep him at Gigg Lane.
"It is credit to the club that they have stuck their neck out to make what is a very good offer for Andy," said Alexander.
"He is a valuable asset for Bury - and it is not an easy thing to replace a striker who can get you 20 goals a season.
"Players have all the power nowadays, and their agents, but I am happy with how talks have gone."
