Bennett set for Shakers return

Bury manager Alan Knill is confident Wolves will allow Elliott Bennett to return to Gigg Lane for a second loan spell.

The 19-year-old midfielder impressed during a three-month loan spell with the Shakers last term, making 19 appearances in League Two.

Knill told the club's official website: "There have been other clubs in for him, but he wants to come here and we want him here. Mick McCarthy is all for him coming here because he knows that he's going to play.

"I've spoken to Elliott and he needs a season where he's going to be playing.

"There's no point in him going to a so called bigger and better club and being on the bench. He needs to be playing every week, that's how he'll develop.

"The last time I spoke to him, he said he was coming, and it's the same with Mick McCarthy so I kind of take their word for it rather than anyone else's."
