Alexander blasts Broughton
25 Jul 2007 - 14:13:27
Bury's director of football Keith Alexander has blasted Drewe Broughton after the striker rejected a move to Gigg Lane in favour of joining MK Dons.
The 28-year-old had seemingly agreed to join the Shakers, before a late U-turn saw him sign up with the Dons.
Alexander told the club's official website: "Players will always look at other clubs and better offers, that's a fact of life.
"However, on Monday I received a phone call from his agent telling us that it wasn't right for him in Milton Keynes and he was heading back to Bury looking to sign the contract we'd offered him.
"He was at our game with Hyde United on Monday night, but didn't play at his request because of the travelling he'd done.
"We were under the impression he would be in the club to sign the contract on Wednesday.
"However, on Tuesday night, I received a phone call from Drewe's agent telling us that he'd just signed a 12-month contract with MK Dons. Obviously he has had his offer improved."
