Bury striker Nicky Adams blamed himself for the Shakers' 1-0 home defeat to Hereford United on Saturday.
The highly-rated 21-year-old missed a string of chances before the Bulls snatched all three points with a last-gasp winner.
Adams admitted: "I gave their back-four a hard time and should have scored.
"I apologised to the lads but they said just go and do it in the next game.
"We should have had a penalty. Glynn Hurst is in front of their defender, through on goal and next thing he's on the floor.
"If we do that to defenders they get a free-kick. The referee didn't give us anything."
