Burton Albion were formed in 1950, in the brewery town of Burton-upon-Trent.

Burton Albion began playing their football in the Birmingham League but soon joined the Sourthern League in 1958. Burton spent over twenty years in the Southern League division hopping before they joined the Northern Premier League in 1979.

Most of the 80's was spent in the Northern Premier League until once again they swapped to the Southern League and spent much of the 90's in the league.

They finnally entered the conference in the 2002/2003 season where they have battled against relegation ever since to keep its Conference status.

The club has recently completed the construction of a new stadium directly opposite Eton Park, the ground they used for home games since 1950. The new ground, named the Pirelli Stadium has an improved capacity of 6,750 and with former England International, Nigel Clough in charge Burton Albion fans are hoping this could be a start of a new era
