    Brewers make double swoop

    16 Jul 2009 - 15:55:25

Burton Albion have signed two new players with former Tottenham Hotspur player Jacques Maghoma joining Guy Branston at the Pirelli Stadium.

Branston joins the club from former Blue Square Premier rivals Kettering Town, whom he captained.

The 38-year-old central defender started his career at home town club Leicester City before spells with Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday, Oldham Athletic, Peterborough United and Notts County.

The deal delighted manager Paul Peschisolido.

"There was a development that came up and I managed to get in and snatch the deal," he told Albion's official website.

"I felt we need someone who is commanding, strong, with great leadership skills and an all out tough guy on the pitch. I know Guy will give us that."

Twenty-one-year-old Maghoma has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Brewers.

Maghoma hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo and joined Spurs as a youth player.
